Multipole expansions in four-dimensional hyperspherical harmonics
A. V. Meremianin∗ Max-Planck-Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems, Nöthnitzer Str. 38, 01187, Dresden, Germany and REC-010, Voronezh State University, 394006, Voronezh, Russia (Dated: October 24, 2005) Abstract The technique of vector differentiation is applied to the problem of the derivation of multipole expansions in four-dimensional space. Explicit expressions for the multipole expa...
متن کاملAperture Multipole Moments from Weak Gravitational Lensing
The projected mass of a gravitational lens inside (circular) apertures can be derived from the measured shear inside an annulus which is caused by the tidal field of the deflecting mass distribution. Here we show that also the multipoles of the twodimensional mass distribution can be derived from the shear in annuli. We derive several expressions for these mass multipole moments in terms of the...
متن کاملMultipole Expansion Model in Gravitational Lensing
Non-transparent models of multipole expansion model and two pointmass model are analyzed from the catastrophe theory. Singularity behaviours of 2n-pole moments are discussed. We apply these models to triple quasar PG1115+080 and compare with the typical transparent model, softened power law spheroids. Multipole expansion model gives the best fit among them.
متن کاملMultipole Expansions of Irreducible Tensor Sets and Some Applications
A formal multipole expansion of tensor functions dependent on several vector parameters is obtained in an invariant differential form. We apply this result to derive multipole expansions of finite rotation matrices in terms of finite sums of bipolar harmonics. The multipole expansion in terms of bipolar harmonics of unit vectors r̂1 and r̂2 are analyzed for functions of the type f (r)Ylm(r̂) (with...
متن کاملApplication of Multipole Expansions To Boundary Element Method
The Boundary Element Method (BEM) has long been considered to be a viable alternative to the Finite Element Method (FEM) for doing engineering analysis. The BEM reduces the dimensions of the problem by one and leads to smaller system of equations. One of the inherent limitations of the BEM has been the long time required for the solution of large problems. This makes the BEM prohibitively expen...
